WEEK EIGHT 20/02 -- 26/02

Progressing towards the end of the month and it'll be time soon to update my weight and measurements to see if any progress is being seen on that front. I will do that in the next update but regardless of those results I already know I feel better, been more active, and enjoying life.

Would have been Mums birthday on Thursday 25th.

Happy birthday Mum Xx

I will be going to the crematorium this weekend and will have my usual chat with all the family there, usually sat in the Rose Gardens which is really peaceful and beautiful once they start flowering again soon. All being well shall have some lovely photo's too.

Finding it a little easier to negotiate the working week, it's still hard going sometimes and the regular disruptions to the trains and buses don't help but I believe I cope a little better now and will soon have my first annual review at Wolters Kluwer which might be useful to know what's in store for the coming year.

WEEK SEVEN 13/02 -- 19/02

Hello, it's just seven weeks into the year and I can happily say that life is still good.

Am now looking forward to some days off during the next couple of months and more plans in the pipeline for the rest of the year. Going to have some trips away to the likes of York, North Wales (Llandudno, Blaenau Ffestiniog, below) and an overdue trip across to the Isle of Man.

This Saturday though I could have gone to the football and watch my club Wimbledon against Luton Town, but with the prospect of standing in the rain for 2 hours or more, plus the lack of trains this weekend I thought I made a wise choice to avoid it at the time.

Typically when I don't go we WIN and yes once again we managed to score a 4-1 victory against Luton, the Dons now sit just off the play off zone but with games in hand on most above us and a very healthy goal difference. Progress on the field is being matched by the progress off with developments gathering pace for the new stadium applications and the return to Wimbledon, Plough Lane.

So I stopped home and watched the rugby instead.

Sunday I will be out to a local church, I'm not becoming religious but there's a great community church locally called The Vineyard and it's really been enjoyable for one main reason and that is it's really happy, there's loads of singing and I don't mean the usual dull boring Christian prayers / hymns. Much more fun, about 20+ mins worth of song, music, and then prayer.

I've been open and honest to the people there and admitted to them I am not there for worship, but it's a great community and I am still made welcome. Of course I am a terrible singer so I just keep myself to a low bass line that I can manage and not try and extend myself. It's still very enjoyable and fun and that's what I need. I went in with an open mind before Xmas and tried it, and very pleased that I did.

The next possible venture for me to look into is that I am being encouraged to have a try at YOGA. Not sure it's for me but will treat it the same way I did when I first went to the church above and see if it's something that would suit me.

Watch this space to see how that develops.

Seven weeks in and still feeling good and doing more. Will soon have a look and update my weight and measurements as I have been told I look better so maybe this new start is paying dividends too. Have a good week.

WEEK SIX 06/02 -- 12/02

Been a busy week for me, last weekend
(Sunday 7th) would have been my Dads birthday so spent a lot of the weekend thinking about him, had a look over a lot of the trains I still have and many pictures from various railway club visits.

Am lucky that I was able to enjoy some time with him at the Hillingdon Railway Modellers club and I've a few older video clips too. Miss those days and of course wish I could have had more time. Memories always take me back to my childhood days and visits to BBC Model Railway Club in London and Motspur Park too, just wished I had the pictures to go with the memories.

"Life is not so much about what you do as who you share it with!"

I include this short but very important quote in this week as it reminds me how much I value not only my family but also my friendships. I may not be one for going out partying now but the time I can spend in wonderful company with friends is valuable time indeed.

I would much rather have dinner with my God-daughter and her family and then fall asleep in the chair while we're watching 'The Voice' than any night out I've had getting drunk.

Looking forward need to have some more time and events for myself, this has started and there are dates in the diary for March and April. Lets make sure that there are a few laughs in Feb too.

WEEK FIVE 30/01 -- 05/02

This week began with my hospital trip and that was great, but no need to describe that any further other than to say I'm Fine.

The Saturday evening managed to get out to celebrate my sister's 50th birthday.

Was a great party, even though I was abstaining from drinking it would seem that birthday girl Pamela was able to make up for that. :)

HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY PAM

Let's just say that Pam had a few drinks, and looked great, though I passed on joining them on the dance floor it seems that everyone had a great night. Good to see Vicki and Andy too up from Devon and my brother Graham out too with his wife Karen and some of the children.

Even Max (above left in the red riding hood outfit) had to put his tablet and headphones down ... because the charge had expired, never mind Max time to engage with the real world till you can re-charge. :)

Back to work for another week of live news stories and books plus lots and lots of meetings.

Next weekend would have been my Dads 82nd birthday so I will be remembering him and spending some time in thought and reflection. Although I must ensure that I don't stop my work this year to change things, feel better, be positive and do more.

So far this year (after one month) I do feel better, good start, fewer hospital visits now plan some time off and events.

January HAS been good -- 1 down, 11 more to go.

Have a good week.
